After the Battle: Consolidation PSYOP examples


In a sense, the real propaganda war begins after the battle. Here are some examples of 'consolidation PSYOP' in Kosovo once NATO forces had moved into the province. In a sense, this is 'nation building' - the use of 'persuasion' to reconstruct civil society - and it is happening again in Iraq in 2003.

Kfor_beware_of_dogs.jpg Kids love dogs. However, if they approached a military dog, they may get bitten. This campaign was designed to avoid unfortunate incidents which would be bad publicity for KFOR troops.
GUNAMNES.jpg Nearly everyone in Kosovo had a gun. An amnesty was called for people to hand them in as part of the quest for law and order.
Kfor_toy_guns.jpg Kids play with toy guns. However, if they approach soldiers, how do the soldiers know that they are toys? This appeal was designed to avoid unfortunate accidents.
